Resolor (prucalopride) Review After 3 Weeks

Hello all, I thought I would update you on my progress of taking Resolor (prucalopride). I have been taking it for 3 weeks now and yesterday was the first day I haven’t had a bowel movement. Beginning from the day I started to take it I thought it was great (OK I had some bad side affects, but it was worth it for being able to go to the toilet), however, as the weeks have gone on my bowel movements have been more difficult and less frequent.

Everywhere I have read tells me that prucalopride is not a drug your body can get use to and can’t become less effective over time. I exercise most days, I try to eat little and often. So I’m wondering if it is something to do with my diet plan.

As some of you may know I’m on the low FODMAP diet, and so in the mornings I have been eating at least one egg a day for protein and a banana every morning. I have decided to stop this now as I think this could be causing the constipation or slowness of my bowel as too much protein is not good and I seem to be hyper sensitive to it. I am now trying to eat a balance of soluble and insoluble fibre such as berries, cucumbers, seeds and oats etc. and drinking at least 2 litters of water per day. I’m hoping this will help to soften and pass easier bowel movements.

    Wish Resolor was available in the U.S! How are you treating your “outlet” problem? I went through therapy for it but it didn’t really help. Good luck!

      Hi Erika, thanks for commenting!
      In terms of the “outlet” problem, there’s not much that has changed. The Resolor helps everything to move ‘down to the end’ so when I do push, I have a bowel movement kind of normally. I sometimes find intensive exercise to work quite well in the mornings. Also keeping up with my low FODMAP diet really works too, usually if I slip up things get worse.
