At the moment this porridge recipe is my weapon of choice to combat the day and as a severe IBS sufferer this is easy enough for me to digest as its high in soluble and insoluble fibre. I would never consider having a full bowel of porridge as even though it contains a lot of soluble fibre it can still be quite binding, resulting in the opposite effect (constipation). The idea of breakfast it to keep everything moving throughout out the day.
The key to a good breakfast should be:
- Nutritional – It should give you the fuel you need to start your day and keep you from snacking
- Hearty – To keep you going till lunch time
- tasty – Something that always gets me out of bed is looking forward to a yummy breakfast
Tip: Make sure your porridge mixture is quite watery not thick or gloopy. It will be much easier on the digestive system.
